Changes proposed for Christmas bazaar
Twenty members came to our regular October meeting.
After the auxiliary prayer, reading the last meeting minutes, financial reports etc we went directly on with the meeting.
First was business from the minutes, i.e. first, a Healthy Measures programme, being held in the hospital board room, lead by Nicole Therrien and Dr. Singleton, every Thursday from 7-8 p.m. Some equipment will be needed for this and the auxiliary will help supply what is required.
The final cost of the Pergola was $4249.25, which the auxiliary paid. It is well used by the residents, and much enjoyed.
The bursary committee will have a meeting and recommend some changes.
Myrna Armstrong reported on the surprise party held for Bob and Iris Osadchuk. It was well attended, and all wished Bob & Iris much happiness in their new home. We will miss them here.
In New Business, several members are knitting shawls, to be given to the ladies in the long term units. Also lap throws will be made for the men.
A new project is compiling a Christmas song book. This book could then be out on loan to organizations, schools etc, but will be the property of the auxiliary. A committee is needed to look after this.
Our main topic was the Xmas Bazaar, Dec 5th. It was suggested we make several changes. It would no longer be a bazaar, as we knew it. Changes suggested.
1. Bakeless Bake sale - instead of baking, put money in an envelope what it may have cost you.
2. Instead of the money on the the spot draws, we would have only one major draw.
3. Instead of pie and coffee, we would have hot cider, tea or coffee and cookies.
We would also discontinue the craft and white elephant sales, and have a talent show for the entertainment of the public.
We will still have our Penny Table, tuck shop corner, and perhaps a seniors corner.
We will take orders for Christmas puddings. These orders must be in by the 15th of November. Phone Irene at 852-3270 with your order.
We also discussed the Christmas Party for the seniors at the depot, Dec. 1st, hoping to have something more festive for the Christmas season.
Our next meeting is a luncheon. The phoning committee will let you know where, the cost $10.00 includes gratuity, the time 12:00. New members are needed and we would like to have you come to this luncheon, see what we are doing, and hopefully join. We need your help.
