It was lights, camera, action as the Grand Theater opened

The curtain rose for the first time in nearly a decade Friday when the Grand Theater opened its doors to the public with two movies.

Kids were already at the theater by about 3:50 p.m. to see Atlantis which started at 4:30 p.m. While the house was only half full, the kids really enjoyed the new facility and the movie.

Later that evening the first adult movie, Pearl Harbor, was shown. It sold out on Saturday night and was fairly full the rest of the weekend.

For a first weekend things went quite good, especially since it was homecoming weekend at LoW School and October Fest at the American Legion.

The staff were glad to have the smaller crowd for the first show as it allowed them work some of the bugs out of the system, although they had some computer glitches with the ticket issuing counter Saturday. Of course that happened right when they needed it most and had a sell out crowd trying to get into the theater.

The picture and sound quality are excellent and the seats were very comfortable.
