Rainy River Town Council held a special meeting last Friday in which they rescinded a motion they had passed earlier to move Halloween from October 31st to October 29th.
Halloween will now be held on October 31st in Rainy River.
Shelley Gosselin of Rainy River presented council with a petition of more than 340 names, which she gathered in about a week, asking council to leave Halloween on October 31st.
Council initially moved the date when Mayor Glen Armstrong told council that he had requests from a number of citizens to move the holiday since it falls on a Sunday this year.
Previously town council had moved the date at least once when it fell on a Sunday. Gosselin said that the mayor told her that it had been moved for 40 years when Halloween fell on a Sunday.
