Don’t put down our fire department

Letter to the editor,
Shame on you for putting down our volunteer fire dept. The key word here is volunteer. These men do a wonderful job of keeping our town safe. I know this was a very dangerous situation but these guys do have regular day jobs. Some of them can’t leave their place of employment during the day and others have to drive to town, change into their gear get to the sight. This does not all happen in 4 minutes. What about all the times they’re called out in the middle of the night and we’re all tucked in our beds not even aware they’re out on a call.
I would like to say that I’m very proud of our volunteer fire fighters. Thumbs up guys. Keep up the good work. Perhaps the person(s) writing the articles in last week’s paper should try a little volunteer work themselves.
