RRHS best playoff hopes still alive with junior volleyball team

Ken Johnston

Still in the playoff hunt.
Rainy River High School’s first playoff hopes of the sports season lie with the 8 and 3 Junior Boys volleyball team.
Last Monday all the teams won against the visiting Ignace Falcons, which helped improve things for the Jr. Boys.
Then on Wednesday Pelican Falls visited RRHS and needless to say it was close for both the Jr. and Sr. Boys volleyball teams, but both RRHS teams lost in five games.
For the Juniors the scores were, 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 26-24 and 14-16. For the Seniors it was 25-22, 19-25, 25-14, 19-25 and 11-15.
The senior girls basketball team defeated PF 40-24.
With only a few games remaining for most teams, RRHS Athletic Director Guy Arpin is feeling pretty good about the Jr. Boys making NORWOSSA’s. “As long as they (jr. boys) beat White Fish Bay they should make NORWOSSA’s,” said Arpin. Red Lake’s juniors could end up tying RRHS but because RR defeated them in four sets here that would put RRHS ahead of them.
RRHS travels to Atikokan this Friday and White Fish Bay next Thursday. NORWOSSA’s begin on November 11th.
