How sweet it is!
A year ago Erin Rencher of Bergland started a small business that she never imagined would be as big as it is now.
For the past three weeks she has had five other people helping her make candy and popcorn to be sold on The Shopping Channel this week. Her home has virtually been taken over by candy. One of the bedrooms has been made into a warehouse and has candy stacked from floor to ceiling.
This Friday all the extra effort will reach a sweet pinnacle. Erin will appear on The Shopping Channel four times. The first will be at 10:30 a.m. central time. She will personally appear on the set in Toronto and will be making some of her hand-dipped candy for the television audience. Her products will then be on sale again at 1:38 p.m., 7:38 p.m. and 10:53 p.m.
After all the ink dried on the contract, Erin was very pleased. “It was a very substantial order and now they have booked me for Valentines Day as well.”
The rapid growth of her business has been overwhelming, but with the big contract from TSC and strong local sales across the district, Rencher is exploring the possibilities of relocating the business outside her home.
TSC will be featuring her hand dipped chocolates and flavoured popcorn. In the new year they will be selling her hand made chocolate roses and other romantic goodies.
Erin’s Candy is also gearing up for the Christmas rush at home, taking orders steadily for Santa to deliver under the tree. However, none of the packages she is selling on TSC will be available as such direct from her. “They are exclusive to TSC.”
