Santa parade this Friday

Ken Johnston

Santa Claus will be coming to town this Friday.
Rainy River’s annual Christmas parade promises to be one of the best ones ever. This Friday at 6 p.m. the town will be treated to a parade at least 15 floats long. That was how many had registered by Sunday and more will likely follow suit this week.
The parade will begin after the lighting of the town Christmas tree on the corner of Main St. and Atwood Ave. It will then travel down Main St. and then east on River Ave. W. to First St. It will go up First St. and then east to the Arena where Santa will visit with local kids and distribute goodies to them.
A free skate with Santa will take place afterwards.
Merchants will also kick off the Christmas shopping season with the second annual Rainy River Rain(y)deer Bucks promotion. Nine participating businesses will give out tickets with every $10 purchase between Dec. 3 and 20th. This weekend participating merchants will give out double Rain(y)deer Bucks (two for every $10 spent). Every Wednesday will also be double bucks days. Just before Christmas the merchants will draw for prizes. There will be 18 in-store prizes and $225 in Rain(y)deer Bucks, spendable at participating businesses.
Rain(y)deer Bucks are available at Border Gasthaus, Marmus Shell, Rainy River Drugs, Rainy River Duty Free/Gifts Galore, Rainy River Radioshack, Rainy River True Value, Susan’s Corner Store, The Village Green and Wood’s Quality Bakery.
