It is time to stop beating around the “Bush.”

Today President George W. Bush comes to Canada in search of better relations. It is said that he hopes to gain support from Canada for his efforts on the war on terrorism, including Iraq. If successful here he plans to jump the pond to Europe and canvass countries there for the same support.
This is the perfect time for Prime Minister Paul Martin to get the border opened again to live Canadian beef and have the soft-wood lumber dispute resolved.
Bush wants our support, well lets trade for something we want.
The ban on beef and the tariffs on lumber are politics at their worst. Bush has a chance to set them right and every good turn deserves one in return. Let’s hope he truly is feeling conciliatory.
