Arrests made for robbery

During the period from September 22nd, 2004 through to January 3rd, 2005 officers from the Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police assisted by the Northwest Region Criminal Investigations Unit have investigated six armed robberies to local businesses in the Fort Frances area.
On January 28th, members of the Fort Frances OPP arrested a man and woman in connection with these incidents. Neil Craig Brown, age 35, and Pamela Marie Magel, age 24, both residents of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, have been charged with two counts each of Robbery Using a Firearm. Brown has also been charged with Failing to Stop at the Scene of an Accident stemming from a motor vehicle collision that occurred on January 3rd, of this year.
Brown and Magel have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on January 31st, in Fort Frances.
Further, on January 28th, shortly after 1:00 p.m. officers from the Emo Detachment of the OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision on Highway #11 approximately 1 kilometer west of Off Lake Road. The driver of a west bound vehicle lost control of her vehicle as a result of icy road conditions and struck an eastbound vehicle. The occupants of both vehicles sustained minor injuries.
