Legion Chat: We remove our caps out of respect
By Walter Wagner
President
I had an acquaintance tell me that the younger generation would probably hang in the Legion if they could keep their caps on.
We know that we remove our head gear in honour and respect of our soldiers who fell in action for our freedoms. By honouring our fallen in this way, this is one small everyday gesture we observe. We don't do enough to remember.
In 2018 it will be 100 years since the end of WWI. Without some memories and some observations there would be no reason for Legions. Our youth and public in general will always be asked to remove their headgear.
And now on the lighter themes, Oktoberfest will be in full swing on Saturday, Oct 20. We will have prizes for Polka dance and other prize giveaways during the evening.
There will be an Executive meeting on October 18th at 7:00 p.m.
Ann and I have just returned from a Legion Seminar and I learned a lot. I hope to employ my learnings to benefit the Legion.
