I was very busy during my mid-winter break

Ken Boshcoff, MP
Thunder Bay-Rainy River

A number of people have asked me how my mid-winter break was. I imagine they were expecting me to tell tales of six weeks of tropical destinations and sunshine, but the truth is I spent most of my House break in my favourite destination spot - Northwestern Ontario.
The past six weeks have been busy and productive for me. I’ve taken several trips out to Fort Frances, Barwick, Nicickouosemenecaning First Nation, and Atikokan. Luck has been with me and the days I’ve travelled have been good ones with clear skies and good roads most of the time.
In the Rainy River District I toured the facility at the Manitou Burial Mounds which has just received Heritage funding. If you’re interested in a road trip this summer you may want to consider this destination.
In Atikokan I toured the newly accessible Public Library. Drive through if you’re passing by and see what they’ve accomplished with the funding they received for their Downtown Restoration project.
Here in Thunder Bay I’ve had the opportunity to visit classrooms and tour the Canadian Grain Commission facility. I look forward to visiting every federal operation in the riding in the coming months. I’ve also had the chance to chat with many constituents who dropped in and to catch up on community events in a major way.
House break for me isn’t an opportunity to escape. It’s a chance to recharge my batteries by visiting the people I’m working for. That’s all the vacation I need!
