Local church to host a barnival

Susan Douglas

What’s a Barnival?
Remember the good ole days? If you grew up in Rainy River then perhaps you remember the Barnival. The word is derived from Carnival; “a festive occasion for show, or display for amusement and located in a large barn or building,” thus the name BARNIVAL.
Ruth Bynkoski recalls attending such an event as a child and the great fun of it all. Len Ricci also remembers along with other senior pioneers in the community.
Oh to live those good old days again. Well, guess what? The joy of the BArnival will be back this June 4, 2005 being held at the Rainy River Community Centre sponsored by the Evangelical Covenant Church.
This Barnival will be a large live auction, white elephant table, silent auction, and bake table along with events such as “Fear Factor”, candy apples and popcorn, Dart games, hockey shoot, Buffalo Burger Canteen, and much more fun.
There will something for everyone!
Mark your calendars now, as you won’t want to miss this exciting old-fashioned event.
If you have anything you’d like to donate for auction please call
852-4489 or the church at 852-3873 for pickup of items.
