Kelsey Jonassen and Madison Boisvert attended the Festival of Stars (Skate Canada Northern Ontario Sectionals) in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, on February 11 - 13, 2005.
Kelsey brought home the gold medal in the Pre Preliminary Ladies Free Skate and Madison brought home the bronze medal in the Pre Preliminary Ladies Free Skate. The first day of competition was the semi finals. The top six in each flight of the Pre Preliminary Ladies Free Skate made the finals the next day. On the final day of competition the skater had to go to the center of the ice and wait for their marks to be shown when they were done with their routine. The skaters received two sets of marks, the first one for technical merit and the second for presentation. The top three skaters on the final day of competition qualified to go to the All Ontarios. Kelsey and Madison will be going to Waterloo, Ontario, March 19 & 20, 2005 to compete in the Trillium Star Skate (All Ontarios).

Kelsey and Madison skate with the Emo Figure Skating Club. They skate Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday putting in a total of 11 1/2 hours a week. They are coached by Marie Josee Potvin of Fort Frances as well as free lance coaches Nicole Campbell and Penny McComb also of Fort Frances. The Emo Figure Skating Club has a membership of 36 skaters this year coming from Baudette, Rainy River, Emo, and Fort Frances.
There were six skaters from the Emo Figure Skating Club who attended the Festival of Stars competition, Kelsey Jonassen, Madison Boisvert, Kennedy Latimer, Taylor Latimer, Dana Drennan, and Sophie Potvin Begin. All six made the finals the second day of competition. Four out of the six girls made the All Ontarios. Kelsey and Madison will be joined by teammates Kennedy Latimer who brought home the silver medal in the Pre Preliminary Ladies Free Skate and Taylor Latimer who brought home the gold medal in the Junior Bronze Free Skate at the Trillium Star Skate. Dana Drennan earned a ninth place finish on the final day in the Preliminary Ladies Free Skate and Sophie Potvin Begin finished fourth in the Pre Preliminary Ladies Free Skate making her the alternate for the All Ontarios should any of the top three not be able to make it. This gave Emo a First, Second, Third, and Fourth place finish in the finals of the Pre Preliminary Ladies Free Skate which was quite an accomplishment for the girls and the club. There was a lot of competition in all the categories bringing skaters from Thunder Bay, Schreiber, Kenora, Sudbury, Cochrane, Geraldton, Kaspukasing, as well as many others.
