Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Ltd. and Holmlund Financial has been selected to receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council. The annual awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.

Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Ltd and Holmlund FInancial made possible the S.A.F.E. (Smoke Alarm For Every) Baby Program in the Rainy River District, which aims to keep the District’s newest residents safe from fire. The company purchased smoke alarms, opened each box and inserted fridge magnets and a fire safety pamphlet, before distributing them to new parents.

“The work of this organization has helped make the Rainy River District a safer place from fire. Their contribution and effort have certainly made a difference,” said Bernard Moyle, Ontario Fire Marshal.

This year, fire departments throughout the province nominated a total of 59 individuals and organizations, from which 33 were selected to receive awards. Ontario Solicitor General David Turnbull will present the awards at a luncheon ceremony in Toronto on November 8, 2001.
