We make good use of the Rainy River
Mrs. Bernice
Dear Editor,
I have really enjoyed reading the Rainy River Record for the past few months. I was particularly interested in knowing who I would meet during the centennial. I was rather disappointed how few people I met even though I knew they were somewhere in town. On the other hand, it was great for Rainy River that so many people returned and couldn’t even be found in our small picturesque town.
I used Elsie Morrisons old bicycle and really marvelled at everyone’s yards and flowers along the river and up & down all the streets and Atwood Ave.
I have clipped all of the delicious looking recipes. The crossword goes to our next door neighbour. The craft ideas to another family.
I’m still pleased to read that many daytime events, naturally end with a dance. Unfortunately that does not happen in B.C.
Of course Gail & Bill Szlauko were wonderful hosts as as always. I was in the Baudette pool for the first time. Also, Audrey & Tom Ronnings yard was a beautiful, hospitable meeting spot.
My big regret of the past is that my husband (Bert) and I didn’t re-visit Rainy River (my home) every 3-5 years. He would have thrived on the river and lake activities. Now, he has too many residual effects of radiation to travel. But I would like to order the centennial celebration video. We will enjoy watching it with our friends.
