On Saturday January 26th 2013 the Pine River 4-H club was held at Ted and Wanda Heyens house at 2:00pm. At this point everyone in the club was ready to start the day so Aynsley William’s called the meeting to order.
Next we did the roll call. The roll call was "What is a different source of calcium other than cow’s milk?"
Most people picked a veggie or orange juice (with calcium made in it).
After that Jordan read last week’s minutes. Then we all did the arrows and amnions for the first meeting.
Kurt then amended the minutes for the first meeting.
Then Mackenzie second the minutes for the last meeting.
After that everyone was all in favor of last week’s minutes. After this Aynsley our president carried the motions.
After this we went over our homework.
Meanwhile we talked and talked about milk names, how it is made and what it is made of.
And there is quite a few of milk products and milk names such as skim milk and uth milk. That’s only 2, there’s plenty more to name.
Afterwards we split up in to groups of four and we made basic white sauce and cheese sauce, fudge and hot cocoa.
One other group did 2 activities. They wrote a song and learn about milk labels. Mmmm now we went in line and ate what we made.
At 4:30 we got dressed and went outside to the milking barn where we saw Ted and his brother George. They talked to us about how milk and about the cows.
We fed the babies cows, and then we talked about the feed and how it is made.
Then we went into the milking barns and saw how the cows got milked and where the milk goes. We also got to go to the milk shed. It was so loud but cool.
We then heard interesting facts like the milk truck comes every 2 days, each cow produces 4 - 5 gallons of milk per milking and they milk the cows twice a day. They milk in the morning and evening. We then thanked Ted, Wanda and George for allowing us to visit their dairy farm at milking time.
Aynsley then adjourned the meeting at 5:30 pm. We had a moo-tastic time.
