Local elementary teachers to work to rule

Public elementary school teachers, who are members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), are planning on working-to-rule in the Rainy River area after March break.
The administrative services that have been withdrawn are all voluntary ones. Elementary teachers are no longer performing any administrative, secretarial-clerical or custodial functions in schools. Additionally, teachers are not organizing any new field trips or attending staff meetings.
Elementary teachers have not curtailed any extra-curricular activities and there have been no cancellations of any previously scheduled field trips at this time. Further sanctions will be applied to local boards if bargaining fails to yield the improvements to working conditions being sought by the public elementary teachers.
The Elementary Teachers’
Federation of Ontario represents 65,000 public elementary school teachers and education workers

across Ontario and is the largest elementary federation in Canada outside of Quebec.
