The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has a new manager in Rainy River.
Michael Pedri began working at the branch on March 4, 2013.
This is Pedri’s first posting as a Branch Manager. Prior to this job he worked for Wasaya in Thunder Bay doing Resource Development.
He learned about the job opportunity in Rainy River at a recent job fair. “I spoke to CIBC representatives and they told me about this great opportunity in Rainy River. Before I knew it I was hired!”
Pedri has an extensive education in business. He received an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and later Masters in Business Administration in his home town, Thunder Bay.
He and his partner, Kate, moved to Rainy River and are currently renting former RR Drugs owner Sarah Berg’s place across from Hannam Park. He said they are both excited about starting anew here!
So far Pedri has been very busy meeting people. “I would like to encourage people to come in and say hi!” he said last week. “Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. I am also looking forward to getting involved in the community.”
He was an active volunteer in Thunder Bay and still is involved with the Big Brother, Big Sister organization. “I will be looking to get engaged with the community,” noting that he has talked to a person about possibly joining the RRWT board.
To date he has participated in curling at the local rink and enjoyed that experience. Both he and Kate are avid runners and enjoy the outdoors. “We love camping, fishing, swimming and both of us are marathoners!”
As for his first taste of the Branch Manager’s job, “I really like it! I enjoy this industry and getting to meet clients needs!
