Lillian Elizabeth Wood, 69

Lillian Elizabeth Wood 69 of Rainy River, Ontario passed away on Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ontario.
Lillian was born on August 6, 1935 in Atwood Township, Ontario to the late Leslie Samuel Calder and Annie Byrnes and had lived all her life in the Rainy River District.
She began employment at Beaver Lumber where she worked for 21 years. She then began working at the LCBO and Gillons' Insurance and later for Canada Post where she retired as Post Master. Following her retirement she became partners with her daughter-in-law operating Wood’s Quality Bakery in Rainy River. She enjoyed going to the casino, shopping, dancing and going to country music concerts. Above all she loved her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her companion Elmer Schmidtknecht and her four children, Lorie (Dennis) Kuzyk of Rainy River, Colin (Sharilyn) Wood of Dawson Township, Kirk (Nicole) Wood of Rainy River and Lisa Wood (Mike Mosher) of Baudette, MN. Also surviving are grandchildren Kelli, Kyle and Kameron Kuzyk and Lesley, Jackie, Krista, Lara and Jack Wood, her sisters and brothers, Eileen (Al) Sullivan of Fort Frances, Doreen Antonson of Rainy River, Don (Rose) Calder of Winnipeg, Donna Mae Noga of Rainy River, Garry (Monica) Calder of Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillian was united in marriage to John Cecil Wood who predeceased her on December 21, 1980. She was also predeceased by her grandson Dane Wood, her sister Shirley Ann Torma and brother Leslie Calder.
A celebration of Lillian’s life was held on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Rainy River with Father Dan Debano officiating.
The honourary pallbearers were her grandchildren Kelli, Kyle and Kameron Kuzyk, Lesley, Jackie, Krista, Lara and Jack Wood. Also Lillian’s sisters, brothers and friends Eileen Sullivan, Doreen Antonson, Donna Mae Noga, Donald Calder, Garry Calder, Karen Antonson, Janet Roy and Iris Marquis.
