Police warn of computer scam

News Release
O.P.P.

The Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police would like to warn the public of a possible scam. An email message is being circulated in which the author claims to be with the Contract Award and Project Verification Department of the Ministry of Works. This person is seeking assistance in investing millions of dollars. The author requires the use of the recipient’s bank account and personal information in order to facilitate the transaction. Upon the successful completion of the transfer of funds, the recipient will receive a percentage of the investment for services rendered.
The public is reminded to never give personal or financial information to anyone over the phone or Internet without confirming the legitimacy of the source. Further, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Officers from the Fort Frances Detachment of the OPP are continuing to investigate a motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday. At approximately 2:30 p.m. a westbound ambulance collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Central Avenue and Second Street. No injuries were sustained and the collision remains under investigation.
