Alexander “Alex” Warnuk, 89
Alexander Warnuk, age 89 years of 101 Main St., Rainy River, Ontario passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 15, 2005.
He was born April, 1, 1915 in Rainy River, Ontario to the late Samuel (Sam) and Antoinette Warnuk. Alex lived in Rainy River, Ontario until enlisting with the R.C.A.F. during WWII.
During the war he was stationed and served his country in Canada. Following the war he returned to Rainy River, where he was united in marriage in 1939 to the former Enid Giles. While residing in Rainy River, Alex worked as a Customs Officer until taking early retirement. Alex was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Rainy River.
He was predeceased by his wife Enid Warnuk in 1987; one daughter marie (Toni) Dyck; four brothers Andrew, Adam, Charles and Maurice; and two sisters Millie and Pearl.
Alex is survived by one son Don Warnuk of Thunder Bay, On; one grandson John (J.K.) Stalker; one great grandson Alex Stalker, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, Ontario/ Reverend Frances Flook officiated with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ontario.
Friends visited Friday afternoon from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, Ontario.
