The Leafs and Habs rivalry

If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, like me, you are likely either super stoked or down in the dumps as you read this.
I am writing it Monday afternoon, knowing that tonight the Leafs will have to do something that few teams have done.... come back in a game 7 from a 3-1 series deficit!
Having been a fan for decades I know how hard it is to be one. We have not seen the team hoist a Stanley Cup since the spring of 1967, the year I was born... (I was in my mom's belly... but I saw the victory by peaking out her belly button).
Many changes have happened to the game and the league since the glory days of the 60s. Goalies wear full helmets and face masks, players all wear helmets. There are many more teams than the original six. It is a faster harder hitting game.
But one thing that hasn't changed over all those decades is the arch rivalry between the Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens (Habs). Both the teams and the fans have fierce rivalries.
I often get facebook messages from Habs fans when they have beaten us. However, I have not heard much from them since they were eliminated by Ottawa Senators last week.... hmmm... wonder why that is??!
There are even friendly insults made by changing the teams's names. Habs fans call our team The Laughs when they are losing and we call theirs the Habsbeens.
Well if the Leafs pulled it out last night, I am sure us Leaf fans will on top of the world. Habs fans will be sad as they will not have the Leafs to compete against on the golf course. Yes the rivalry continues off the ice and all year long.
So if you are Leafs fan, and they won last night, GO LEAFS GO!
If not, we will continue to carry the torch until next season.
–Until then, Ken
