Help save the Lions

–John Trenchar

Letter to the Editor
The Rainy River Lions club are seeking new members. The present group has dwindled and new members are needed to keep this important community asset alive.
Rainy River has an admirable history of supporting strong service clubs. The Rainy River Lions Club received its charter on November 25, 1985. This vibrant new club did not waste any time making an impact in their community.
They have been involved with local recreation, winter carnivals, and annual Christmas Parades. Many high school graduates have benefitted from Lions bursaries. Hearing and eye assistance has helped many residents of Rainy River.
The Rainy River Lions have also been very active in supporting many national Lions Projects. The Manitoba/NWOntario Eye Bank, Lions Foundation of Manitoba and N.W. Ontario, Guide Dogs of Canada and the Diabetic Association of Canada have all benefitted from great support.
This group meets twice a month. The meetings provide fellowship and fun as well as the opportunity to plan projects which will benefit Rainy River. Membership in Lions also means that the service work can be extended to a larger world community, helping with projects like world vision care and the Tsunami Relief work in East Asia.
The Rainy River Lions have a great history. They are members of the community, serving the community. In order to keep up the good work and move ahead with new projects new members are needed. If you were a member in the past consider rejoining. If you want to help your community and the world be a better place consider joining the Rainy River Lions.
