Library Corner: Kids Summer Reading Club set to turn first page

By Michael Dawber
Librarian/CEO

Get ready…get set…GO to the Rainy River Public Library!
GO is the theme for this year’s TD Summer Reading Club for Kids.
We will have fantastic stories about exotic places, adventures and travel.
Registration for the Reading Club is now open. Caregivers and children up to age 12 can join for free.
Our Reading Club will meet Fridays in July and August for stories, crafts and games.
Club time starts at 11 a.m., Friday, July 5.
A parent or caregiver must accompany children during our program.
Don’t forget: kids win a prize for every book they read!
They can win a second prize for creating a picture or story about the book.
You can log your books read during all regular library hours, not just club time.
At the end of the summer, our top two readers will each win a special grand prize.
We’ll also have a prize for the reader making the most creative pictures and stories.
The big prizes will be handed out at our last club time on Friday, August 16.
To join the TD Summer Reading Club, email the library at
libraryrr@gmail.com or phone 807.852.3375.
We are also hosting a get-together to talk about a new Friends of the Library group.
The meeting will be Thursday, June 13, at 7 p.m. in the Library.
We will be discussing what a Friends group could do, and how we could do it.
Refreshments will be served.
We look forward to seeing you!
