Chamber hopes to get back on its feet

Ken Johnston

Efforts are underway to rejuvenate the 70+ year old Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce (RRDCC).
A meeting has been called tonight at the Rainy River Legion at 6 p.m. to try and get the organization back on its feet. It has faltered in the past year or so with very few meetings being called or attended.
Last week the last elected Executive, President Crystal Lindal, V.P. Sara Berg, Treas. Terri-Anne Lundgren, Sec. Monica Nelson and Amy Ruff met to try and get the organization back on track.
They decided to call an annual general meeting to hold elections. That will take place this evening and to create incentive they opted to lower dues to $100 for voting members and make the dues good until the end of 2006.
Lundgren said all businesses in and around Rainy River are welcome to attend the meeting. However, only those who have paid their dues will be able to run for office and vote tonight.
“We want to encourage businesses that want to see the betterment of the community to come out tonight,” said Lundgren.
