Seven members met at the home of Marjorie Meek on May 11th. It is nice to have Marjorie back after her winter trip. It was also great to see Margaret recovering so well from her surgery. Our thoughts were with member Ellen on the tragic loss of her brother in law, Tom Ronning. Our condolences go out to Audrey and family.
The meeting began with members sharing information about their favorite garden item, We learned that the blue “Jackman” clematis seems to be more hardy for our area than some other varieties. Rhubarb is up, and Marjorie treated us with some delicious rhubarb cake. Some deer feeding by the river provided a peaceful backdrop.
The hall kitchen has been cleaned and inventoried. Bricks have been delivered to the cemetary, and work on the new planter will be starting soon.
Everyone was pleased with the colors chosen for the new quilt. Work on it will commence on May 14th at the school. Tickets for the museum quilt are available now. Concern about the condition of the existing museum building was raised, but it will take more than tickets and teas to make a real difference in the museum.
Our annual Bake Sale will be held under the canopy at McCrosson-Tovell School in Bergland on Saturday, June 11th from 9 to noon.
Members will meet on Wednesday, May 18th to plan our program for 2005/06. Our last scheduled meeting for the year will be hosted by Ruth Huntley in Rainy River on June8th.
