Owls win silver
Ken Johnston
It was as close to the All Ontarios without going as they could get.
The Rainy River High School/SCAP Owls boys soccer team travelled to Wawa late last week to compete in NWOSSA soccer championships.
In the best of three games the Owls struck first winning on Friday night 1-0.
Then Saturday morning they lost a nail-biter 2-1.
That set the stage for a nail-biter tiebreaker later that day.
The only goal of the game came in when Wawa had a penalty kick early in the game. A goal that proved to be the only thing stopping the Owls from going to the All Ontarios.
However, Coach Jenelle Lowes said, “The boys played very well and coach John Laplante and I are very proud of them.”
Lowes said she felt the Owls outplayed the Wawa team. “We had many more shots on net than them.”
The team brought home silver medals from NWOSSA.
