President Joyce Penner opened our first meeting for this term on September 3, 2013 with our Auxiliary Prayer followed by Carolee Hogue reading the minutes of the last meeting and Dawn Jarvis giving the Treasurer's Report.
Nancy Schaak gave the Break Open Ticket Report and thanked the volunteers who watered the plants at the hospital over the summer.
Lisa Jodoin, receptionist for the hospital will look after the Tuck Shop at the hospital during the week and Elsie Gerula will work on Saturdays.
The Sick and Visiting Committee reported that we had sent a card to Ida (Nault) Maryniuk as her sister had passed away during the summer and to Peggy Livingston who had an accident and had to have surgery. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Nault/Maryniuk families and we hope Peggy gets well soon.
The Ways and Means committee needs a new volunteer for the position that was previously held by Betty Blight.
Gill Stamler volunteered to become our First Vice President.
Irene Hanson reported that no new members joined the Auxiliary over the summer. Please come to our meeting or call if you would like to join us!
On September 14, 2013 there was a conference in Ear Falls and also there was a Cowboys and Lace Dinner in Emo with the proceeds going to a Lift Chair for the Emo Hospital and an IV pump for the Rainy River Health Centre.
There was a discussion on the Snoezelen Portable Cabinet, a fibre optic device with multi-sensory benefits for Alzheimer patients. Joyce and Gill will visit Rainycrest where one is set up to learn more about it as we need more information.
There was a request from the Nurse Manager, Tammy McNally for the Auxiliary to help with the costs of buying a device to detect eye trauma to be used at the hospital.
An aquarium, donated by the Brumwell family was donated to the Locum House Auction as we have no knowledgeable person to look after fish.
Betty Blight gave a plate to Joyce from the Grace van Drunen family. We will donate it to the Emo Museum.
Also Joyce will book the Recreation Centre for the Christmas Auxiliary Bazaar on December 1, 2013.
