Pine River 4-H tackles digital photography
By Jordan Desserre
Pine River 4-H Club
The first meeting of Pine River 4-H Digital Photography Club was held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Stratton Seniors Centre at 9:30 am.
Our Youth Leader, Jordan Desserre, first led us into an icebreaker game. We tossed a ball around while we stood in a circle and answered the question that our right thumb was touching when we caught the ball.
We then introduced our Leaders, Mary Ann Haw, Krista Williams and Kim Desserre. Kim reminded the members about the rules of a 4-H meeting and then we moved to the elections.
Jordan chaired the election and made sure all members knew about the democratic process. We then nominated and voted for several positions and the results were: President - Morgan Haw, Vice-President - Calli Vandenbrand, Rotating Secretaries – Andrea and Brett Schram, Mackenzie Jolicouer, Ben Olsen, Hayden Haw, Aynsley Williams, Kurt and Morgan Desserre, Rotating News Reporters- Jordan Desserre, Micaela Jolicouer, Madison Williams, Kurt and Morgan Desserre, Alanna and Erika Gerula.
Next, we discussed what we wanted to learn in this club and how to go about learning it. After deciding on how to run the meetings we showed our personal cameras to the group and shared one interesting fact about our camera.
This was then wrapped up with a snack followed by reading articles in small groups and then summarizing the article and explaining what we learned to the entire group. After that we discussed how to transfer pictures from our cameras to computers for our home challenge.
Our home challenge this meeting was to take three pictures from the perspective of a toddler.
We then discussed when our next meeting would be and it would be on Saturday, November 2, 2013 once again at the Stratton Seniors Centre at 1:00 pm.
Following that we played another game which was followed by another snack. The meeting was then adjourned at 12:05 pm.
