Legion Chat: Banner mystery solved

By Walter Wagner
President

The club room is nicely decorated for Christmas, thanks to Gerry Marchuk's efforts.
The mystery of the age of our old banner has probably been solved. Our original Charter given to us in 1927 named us as Rainy River (Manitoba #54) Branch. On June 12, 1951 our branch was named Major Hughes (Manitoba/Northwestern Ont) Branch #54.
That also establishes the age of our original banners as approximately 62 years old.
Kudos to Ron Mondor for selling 50/50 tickets at the Extravaganza at the Rec Centre.
December 21st draw date and Legion Christmas party is rapidly approaching make sure to get your tickets and plan to attend the party. This week is the Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Party plus an executive meeting on Thursday, December 12th.
The Branch members serve the meal to the auxiliary, acknowledging their support for us over the year.
Let me say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Ladies for their existence because last year 9 Auxiliaries disappeared.
