Bourre elected president

The local branch of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary held their monthly meeting and Christmas Party on December 11th. President Valerie Nelson presided with 16 members present. Minutes of the November meeting were read and approved. Treasurer Donna Ivall gave her report on the Auxiliary's finances. All accounts were presented and authorized for payment. Christmas cards from all the district auxiliary's were read out.
A motion was made and approved to donate money to the Rainy River Rec Centre to pay for the ice time at the arena. Also a donation to the Lung Association is being sent. The installation of our new executive will be done at our January meeting.
The executive for 2014 is: President - Evelyn Bourre; 1st Vice - Beaty Nault; 2nd Vice - Laurie Fairfield; Treasurer - Donna Ivall; Past President - Valerie Nelson; Secretary - Gladys Yeo; Sargent at Arms - Donna Ivall; Flag bearers - Rose O'Connor & Marion Lachance; Membership - Evelyn Nelson; Ways & Means - Marlene McNally; Sick & Visiting - Janet Schaff & Janet Wolanicki; Kitchen - Peggy Livingston & Ida Maryniuk; Scholarship - Beaty Nault; Poppy & Veteran - Marion Lachance; Publicity - Gladys Yeo.
An applause of appreciation was given to Valerie Nelson as she is resigning as President after 6 years.
When the meeting adjourned a delicious meal was served to the ladies by the men of the Branch. The auxiliary then presented Walter Wagner with a cheque for $5000.00, their annual donation to the Branch. A Christmas gift exchange took place and a social time was enjoyed by all.
