Police investigating several motor vehicle accidents

The OPP Marine Unit patrolled Rainy Lake this past weekend. On Saturday July 9th, Officers patrolled the South Arm of Rainy Lake to Kettle Falls. They checked 38 vessels issuing 2 Liquor Licence Act charges, 3 Liquor Licence Act warnings and 22 Small Vessel Regulation warnings.
On Sunday July 10th Officers patrolled the North Arm of Rainy Lake, North East Bay, Black Sturgeon Bay and Porter’s Inlet to Red Gut Bay. They checked 28 vessels, issuing 1 Small Vessels Regulation charge, 3 Liquor Licence Act warnings and 21 Small Vessels Regulation warnings.
On July 15th The Emo OPP investigated a report of a motor vehicle collision on Off Lake Rd approximately 4 kilometre’s north of Hwy 11. At approximately 11:25 p.m. a southbound pick- up truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and entered the west ditch striking several fence posts. Two of the occupants were ejected from the box of the pick-up with one of the occupants being transported to Laverendrye Hospital in Fort Frances with minor injuries. He was later released. The collision is still under investigation.
On July 16th at approximately 2:50 a.m. officers from the Fort Frances OPP responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Scott Street. Subsequently Michael Roach, age 19 of Fort Frances, was arrested and charged with Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code, and Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was released from custody and will appear in court on August 29th.
Also on July 16th the Fort Frances OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision in the 900 block of Eighth Street. At approximately 3:00 a.m. a 1983 Blue Plymouth four-door car was located upside down in the ditch to the north of Eighth Street. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen sometime after 8:00 p.m. that night. On July 17th the OPP Marine Unit patrolled Rainy Lake checking 17 vessels and 15 cabins. There were 17 warnings and one charge issued under the Small Vessels Regulations. One charge was issued under the Liquor Licence Act. The Marine Unit will continue to patrol our area waters throughout the summer.
