Flu Outbreak Lifted
In conjunction with the Northwestern Health Unit, Riverside Health Care has lifted the outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness on the first floor of La Verendrye General Hospital (LVGH) site in Fort Frances.
RHC-LVGH staff took several steps to help patients and staff and keep the illness from spreading. These included:
·Isolating patients with symptoms and postponing group activities;
·Sending affected staff members home until they are symptom free for 48 hours;
·Aggressive cleaning throughout the first floor; and
·In cooperation with the La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary, having a volunteer staff a ‘reminder station’ at the entrance to the first floor unit during visiting hours until this evening.
We wish to thank patients and family members, La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary volunteers, hospital staff, and the Northwestern Health Unit for their understanding and exemplary efforts during the outbreak period.
