Eleven members of the McInnes Creek Chapel Board met on March 30 at the home of Rebecca Wood.
Able Chairman Bob Locking brought the meeting to order.
Secretary’s report was read by Rebecca, followed by the Treasurer’s Report by Vivian Locking.
Business at hand was the upcoming Yard and live auction sale. Because of our lengthened winter it was decided to hold it on May 10th, with the auction starting at 9 a.m. as well.
People with items to donate could call Bill Langner at 852-4457 who will arrange to pick them up. Once again refreshments, hot dogs and baking will be offered for sale. Items inside the chapel will be sold for 25 cents each unless otherwise marked. Proceeds from the sale help with operating costs and upkeep of the chapel and grounds. We hope to have a good turnout and weather to match to help set up on the morning of May 8th, after which we will enjoy a pot luck lunch.
Thank you for donations from Wayne and Ann Sandmoen and Joyce Allbright in memory of lifetime resident Walter Sandmoen. Also thank you to Blue Wave Energy for their donation of heating oil for the Chapel.
Vivian read some interesting excerpts from a 1925 Ladies Aid book. We noticed that at that time, single women were called by their first names, but married women used their husband’s first and last names preceded by “Mrs.” (i.e.: Mrs. Fred Sandmoen).
The meeting was adjourned, grace said and visiting commenced over our ever-popular pot-luck lunch.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 27th at the chapel.
