Breaking News: Hwy. 11 washed out east of Emo
WASHOUT – HIGHWAY 11 NEAR VAN DRUNEN ROAD
(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On June 12, 2014 at approximately 9:00 am, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police came upon a washout section of Highway 11 just west of Van Drunen Road in LaVallee Township. Heavy amounts of rain falling overnight have resulted in both lanes of the highway being completely washed out.
Traffic travelling between Fort Frances and Emo, ON is currently diverted to Highway 602. The Ministry of Transportation has been notified and will be assisting with the highway closure at points. OPP have notified emergency personnel and Canada Border Services of the highway closure and resulting traffic diversion.
The public is asked not to call OPP Communication Centre for road closure information but to listen to local media for updates or call 511 for road closure information.
