Bergland raises over $1,000 for cancer

Ken Johnston

While all the sponsor sheets aren’t in yet, the total raised from the events at the 2nd Annual Bergland Family Fun Day are in excess of $1,000.
Karen Sepers told the Record on Monday that the Cuts for Cancer have raised about $1,000 but the figures for Lee Johnson’s bike-a-thon have not been totalled as of yet.
Johnson rode his bicycle to and back from Miami, Manitoba to raise money for the Cancer Society. It was 400 km each way and the trip took him four days to complete. He originally planned to be in on the Sunday night of the Family Fun Day (Aug. 14th), but ran into headwinds and poor road conditions. He arrived a day late.
Sepers said the event was a huge success and many people from all over the area came to enjoy themselves that day.
