First Morson Bass International considered a huge success

MBI organizers were very pleased with their inaugural tournament over the weekend.
With the big tent set up, used by the Fort Frances and Rainy River tournaments, the festival environment was definitely in the air.
All weekend everything from pancake breakfasts, to the weigh-ins were very well attended.
Several community groups pooled together to put on events that kept the public busy each day.
On Saturday the Morson Women’s Institute cooked burgers and other good eats. They also hosted their annual craft sale, all though it was smaller than usual, it was still well received. They sold raffle tickets on their famous handmade quilts.
Friends of Recreation from Bergland manned the beer gardens and sold tickets on several prizes. Winning the draw prizes: Peddle boat was Sharron Joseph, Rotisserie cooker, Larry and Dianne Gate, Capucinno maker, Wendy Woodgate and the Afghan, Cliff Gaudry.
The fish fry was delicious and well attended.
The dance, which turned into an all night name that tune contest was well attended with organizers reporting everyone had fun.
Tournament chair Tony Gill was very pleased with the event and said they look to make it even bigger next year.
Rainy River Future Development Corporation Economic Development Officer Geoff Gillon was on hand and said, “I see great potential for this event.”
