Local schools raise money for cancer

In the 1980s a young Canadian man, Mr. Terry Fox, became an inspiration and a hero to the nation. And even though he passed away in 1981, his legacy has lived on and still does!
Fox, who lost a leg to cancer, decided to run coast to coast in Canada to raise awareness and money for Canadian Cancer research. He made it 5,373 km in 143 days, running on one good leg and one artificial one. His quest ended just east of Thunder Bay when his cancer forced an end to it.
Since that time, the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope or the Terry Fox run has been held every year in communities and schools right across the country... and Rainy River is no exception.
