RRDFL hands out awards to end the season

While the majors are getting set to start their playoff season, the boys of summer from the Rainy River District Fastball League officially wrapped theirs up last Friday.
The annual RRDFL awards banquet was held in Stratton not only to honour the best of the 2005 season but those of the past also. Bryan Bonot and Randy Armstrong were inducted into the league hall of fame.
The Rainy River Legion was presented with the league trophy as the Regular Season Champs. Fort Frances’ Sight and Sound was equally honoured as the League Playoff Champs.
The following All-Star awards were also handed out:
Home Run King: Kevin Gemmell (Barwick) who had 8 on the season.
Manager: George Oltsher (Bar.)
Utility: Guy Arpin (Stratton)
Fielder: Kevin Gemmell (Bar.)
Fielder: JJ Landry (Bar.)
Fielder: Ed Vold (S&S) and Tom Armstrong (Pinewood)
Short Stop: Beeker Watson (S&S)
Third Base: Duane Carlson (S&S)
Second Base: Joel Ashworth (Pine.)
First Base: Derek McKinnon (S&S)
Catcher: Grant Swire (S&S)
Pitcher: Murray Armstrong (RR)
Rookie: Nick Ashworth (RR)
Shane Jarvis Memorial Award for Sportsmanship: Cam Hanson (RR)
Gerry Harasymyk MVP Award: Murray Armstrong (RR)
Kingsley Downs Memorial (umpire choice): George Oltsher (Bar.)
