Aux. members to travel to Toronto in November
Irene Hanson
RR Hospital Auxiliary
Instead of starting with our usual meeting, Myrna Armstrong and Elsie Gerula gave us a run down of the presentation they will take to the provincial conference at Toronto on November 1st & 2nd.
It is done in video form, with the girls commenting on the different pictures and projects. These go back to our first Red Cross Hospital, the second opened in 1951 to our present buildings to the many projects we have helped with in the community, to the items we have purchased to make things more pleasant for our long term patients ie gazebo, pergola, planters, chair for hair care, to name a few. We purchased an elliptical exercising machine to be used in the hospital, a breast pump for the health centre are in the process of getting birds and setting up an aviary for the patients in the activity room.
Our fund raising projects are also included. This all was set up by Lu & Donny Ricci, who put in many hours of work, showing the pictures on tape in an orderly sequence. Thank you Don & Lu.
We broke for coffee and dessert, and then had a short regular meeting. The minutes and financial report were approved.
There was a discussion that perhaps we should have evening meetings, instead of afternoon, so that some of our younger members who are working could come, however no definite conclusion was made. Also the cost of mileage to attend conference, etc was discussed, at the request of regional personal at the conference. They wanted input from local auxiliarys, and our recommendation is .42ยข per kilometer.
This concluded the meeting. Our next meeting is November 7, at the hospital, at 1:30.
