John Arthur (Art) Anderson, 83
John Arthur (Art Anderson, age 83 years, of Bergland, Ontario passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2005 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
He was born February 9, 1922 in Bergland, Ontario to the late John and Maria Anderson.
Art attended school in Bergland, and at the age of 15 started working with local Commercial Fisherman, first for Val Fadden and later for John Quick for a number of years. On May 10, 1947, Art was united in marriage to Dorothy Johnson. They lived in Spohn Township for 14 years, where he owned and operated his own pulp truck. Around that period of time he started to guide on the nearby lakes, and at home he started farming and raising cattle. Beyond their farm work, he also spent a lot of his time logging in the bush for many years.
He was predeceased by two brothers Carl and Einar Anderson; one sister Agnes Kivi, his daughter-in-law Diane Anderson and his son-in-law John Daoust.
Art is survived by his wife Dorothy Anderson of Bergland, ON.; four children, Ellen and husband Daryl Gaudry of East Selkirk, MB., Tanya Daoust and Adrian Versluis, John Anderson, and Glenn Anderson and wife Peggy all of Bergland, ON.; nine grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy and wife Kari Gaudry, Darren Daoust (Tamara) and John Paul Daoust (Monika), Amy and Dylan Anderson, and Meagan, Daniel and Paige Anderson; three great grandchildren Cody Daoust, Tanner and Mackena Gaudry; one sister Selma Nagy of South Junction, MB.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, Ontario. Pastor Roland Schoepf and Mrs. Carolyn Kreger officiated with interment in Bergland Cemetery in Bergland, Ontario.
The active pallbearers will be Darren Daoust, John Paul Daoust, Justin Gaudry, Jeremy Gaudry, Meagan Anderson, and Amy Anderson and Don Larsen.
The honourary pallbearers were B.J. Novotny, Jim McLean, Stanley Sandmoen, Harry Storkson, Conrad Berglund, Melvin Kalstrom, Leonard Larsen, Dylan Anderson and Daniel Anderson.
