Alice Pentney, 76

Peacefully with her family by her side, Alice Pentney passed away on Friday December 9th, 2005 at the Rainy River Hospital.
Alice was born on August 4th, 1929 in Tovell Township, Ontario to Rudolph and Lilly Pearson. She was united in marriage to Gordon Pentney in October of 1953 and they settled along Spruce Creek in Minahico, Ontario where she resided until moving to Rainy River in 2001. Over the years she worked at various resorts in Morson, Ontario. Gordon and Alice ran a minnow business for many years and she continued this after her husband passed away. She was a long time member of the Lake of the Woods Women's Institute and the Bergland Seniors Club. She loved nature and often could be found outside gardening or feeding her bird feeders. Alice loved her grandchildren and was very proud of them.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Gordon on July 14, 1980; daughter Betty Ann Olson on September 25, 2003 and sister Anna Olson.
Alice leaves behind her children Edna (Doug) Vandersteen of Falcon Lake, MB, Henry (Joan) Pentney of Bergland, ON and Lily (Glenn) Anderson of Arbor Vitae, ON; grandchildren Wendy (Jeff) Tymchuk, Toni (Jamie) Weatherburn, Lily Olson, Jennifer Olson, Kim (Richard) McKenzie, Bobbi-Jo (D'Arcy Headon) Pentney, Mark Pentney, Sarah Anderson, Donald Anderson, Daniel Anderson and Emily Anderson; great grandchildren Kyle, Tristan, Liam, Kaylee, Emily, Dylan, Ally and Wyatt; sisters Ruth Halverson of Tovell Township, ON, Shirley (Allan) Brown of Nestor Falls, ON, Gladys (Chuck Hanson) Jolicouer of Stratton, ON and Elsa Miller of Morson, ON; brothers Gordon (Eileen) Pearson of Kenora, ON and Roy (Marie) Pearson of Rainy River, ON as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday December 14th, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, Ontario. Pastor Ron Grout and Carolyn Kreger officiated with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ontario.
The pallbearers were Mark Pentney, Jennifer Olson, Kim McKenzie, Kyle Olson, Donald Anderson and Daniel Anderson.
The honourary pallbearers were Alice's family and friends.
