RRHS students to offer free drama presentation Friday

Ken Johnston

If you like drama productions, then Rainy River High School’s Grade 10 drama class has a treat for you this Friday and it is absolutely free!
Teacher Laura Armistead has been working with the 19 students to put together a performance during class time. The production is called “Sorority Girls Slumber Party Massacre” and is a parody of movies like Friday the 13th. The play was written by Angus Kohn of Winnipeg and was performed at the Fringe Festival there.
“I saw it in Winnipeg and thought it was pretty funny so I wrote to him (Kohn) and asked if we could have permission to do it,” said Armistead.
All the students are involved in one way or another. Josh Wilson and Timo Brielmann are directing. Other students are in charge of lighting, set, promotion, hair and makeup, etc. Acting in the play are Peter Sopotiuck, Meaghan Jasper, Adrianne McLean, Kaylie Lundgren, Jordan Jenson, Mark Clifford, Mark Singleton, Byron Sharp, Josh Wilson, Danny Usiski, Jr., Dennis Big-George, Alyshia Langlais, Raven Archie, Austin Hatch, Ashley Jewett and Kalan Ewald.

Everyone is welcome to attend. The play will begin at 7 p.m. this Friday in the RRHS Gymnasium.
