Dialysis facility to open in Fort Frances Thursday

Riverside Health Care Facilities and Thunder Bay Regional Hospital are pleased to announce the Official Opening of the Renal Dialysis Program at La Verendrye Hospital. The event is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th at La Verendrye Hospital.

Representatives from Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, as well as other dignitaries will be on hand for this very exciting occasion. Metta Viser, a Dialysis patient and long-time resident of the Rainy River District will also be in attendance to cut the ribbon.

”We are very pleased to be partnering with Thunder Bay Regional Hospital to provide Dialysis services closer to home for district residents”, noted Wayne Woods, CEO of Riverside Health Care Facilities.

Lori Marshall, the Senior V.P. Of Patient Care at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital echoed those sentiments stating, “This is an excellent example of a healthcare partnership that benefits all of our renal dialysis patients.”

The Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative, a fundraising group who contributed $600,000 to assist with bringing Dialysis services to La Verendrye Hospital will also be acknowledged for their outstanding contributions at the event.

“The Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative was integral part of our Care Close to Home fundraising campaign”, noted Teresa Hazel, Foundation Director of Riverside Foundation for Health Care.”We definitely hope to continue working with this group on future projects”, added Hazel.

Everyone is invited to attend the Official Opening. Welcoming remarks are scheduled for 2:00 p.m with refreshments and an open house to follow the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
