Verna Barsy installed as Legion Ladies Auxiliary President

On December 14th, 24 Legion Auxiliary ladies enjoyed a Christmas party in the Legion Hall. A delicious meal was served by the men, followed by a gift exchange and general meeting. A donation of $5000.00 was presented to the branch during the meeting.
On January 11, 2006, 16 members and 1 guest attended the regular monthly meeting. Installation of officers for the new year was presided on by Peggy Livingston.
The following were installed: President - Verna Barsy, 1st Vice President - Janet Schaaf, Treasurer and flag bearer - Donna Ivall, Secretary - Terri Yeo, Membership - Ev Nelson, Poppy and Vets - Vivian Hartnell, Scholarship - Beatrice Nault, Cribbage - Ev Bourre, Past President - Marlene McNally, Kitchen - Peggy Livingston, Correspondence, - Gladys Yeo.
A motion was made to donate $100.00 to the Legion Sports Foundation and $100.00 to the Alzheimer’s Society. It was noted that the District meeting will be held in Sioux Lookout on March 31st to April 2nd. Local members wishing to attend will travel by bus from Fort Frances.
Members decided to hold a Valentine supper on February 11th in the Legion Hall. Roast Pork with all the trimmings will be served. Price is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 10 years.
The meeting came to a close with Hazel winning the attendance draw and Verna the membership draw.
Remember the Legion Auxiliary has cribbage on every Monday Night, and a meat draw every Wednesday night. Everyone is welcome to come out and partake in these events.
