Town terminates municipal administrator

At a special meeting Rainy River Town Council passed by-law 1461-06 which in effect terminated Clerk Administrator Deb Bowman’s employment with the Town.
The bylaw repealed an older bylaw that had been enacted on Oct. 18, 2000 and had appointed Bowman as Municipal Administrator, Clerk, Treasurer and Tax Collector for Rainy River.
Council released no reasons to the public but did pass a motion instructing staff to release all their reasons for the termination to Bowman.
When asked if council had reached a financial settlement with Bowman, Councillor Ed Tymkin said council could not speak on that issue. “We can not talk about it.”
All councillors voted in favour of the bylaw except Deb Ewald who voted against and Dennis Ewald who was absent.
