Appreciation of Clerk Bowman and Councillor Ewald’s vote

Dear Editor,
Re: Public dismissal of Debbie Bowman,
The Rainy River Town Council by this action has instigated a headline in our Press, which has literally tarred and feathered this woman, I’m sure she will never be able to hold her head up in this town again & will only foster speculation and conjecture, and compromise any fair dealings in the future.
Such action and public comments are unwarranted and very unfair. All of us without exception are guilty of some wrong doing against others, be it friends, family, co-workers, or society as a whole, at some or many junctures of our lives. And we would expect that simple justice would prompt these ones to think about the good things that we have accomplished.
When our son died in Winnipeg during the flood here in the year 2002, my family had to contend with flooded highways, roads, and a completely flooded local cemetery. At that time I had never met Debbie Bowman, however when I phoned her from Winnipeg and informed her of my problems she stepped forward and put the resources of this town at my disposal and helped in every which way. My point in all of this is, as a Christian person all of us will be ultimately judged for our actions in this life, but we know, that it will be done with balance and fairness with emphasis on the good things we have accomplished in life.
My appreciation goes out to Councillor Deb Ewald who meditated on these things and had the courage to say “No” to injustice.
