According to John Faith, one of the organizers of the Handel’s Messiah peformances held on Dec. 1, and 2, in Baudette and International Falls, over $2,500 was raised for area food banks.

The concert attracted over 600 people in Baudette and around 900 in International Falls. They featured vocalists and musicians from across the region.

There was no admission charged. All that was asked was that people make a free will donation to local food banks.

Faith said that the following approximate amounts were raised:

Rainy River $500, Baudette $700, International Falls $875, Fort Frances $400 and Emo $87. There was also a large number of actual foodstuffs donated and they were given to food shelfs as well.
