A bad accident

On February 18th at 3:00 a.m. the Emo OPP were called to investigate a threat allegation north of Emo on Cann Road. A male subject entered the Cann Road residence carrying a crowbar and making a motion to strike the victim. Leslie Bruce Cann, age 41 of Kingsford Twp, was subsequently arrested and charged with Assault With A Weapon and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code. He was released from custody and will appear in court on March 27th, 2006.
On February 19th, 2006 the Atikokan OPP were notified of a motor vehicle collision causing injury at approximately 4:35pm EST on Mackenzie Ave in Atikokan. The driver of a tractor-trailer unit was reversing westbound from a private driveway and had failed to conduct a circle check. The driver was waved down and discovered the victim had been working under the tractor. The tractor had passed over the victim causing severe injuries to the lower limbs. Kevin Cross, age 47 of Atikokan, was rushed by Ambulance to the Atikokan General Hospital were he is being treated for his injuries.
The Ministry of Labour is assisting the OPP and the collision is still under investigation.
