It is three in a row for Bonot!
Bryan Bonot’s Stratton rink won the 49th Annual Rainy River Men’s Bonspiel for the third time in a row against the same opponent; Tim Nordin of Rainy River.
Bonot’s rink was skipped by his son Trevor, Third was John Desaulnier, Second was Bryan Bonot and Lead was Norm Hyatt.
Nordin opened the scoring when he tried to make a double take out with the hammer but rolled out and counted one.
Trevor Bonot drew for one with the hammer in the 2nd to tie the game 1-1.

Nordin tried to bump one of Bonot’s out in the third but was short putting Bonot up 2-1.
The next two ends Nordin was light with his last shot allowing Bonot to steal one each end to lead 4-2 in the 5th.
Nordin did not miss in the 6th hitting and sticking on the 8 ft. to count one.
It was down to skip’s rocks again in the 7th with Bonot counting one to lead 5-2.
In the 8th Bonot ran Nordin out of rocks, peeling whatever Nordin put in the house to win the championship.
In the ‘B’ event it was Dale Morrison against Dave Armstrong; both of Rainy River.
Armstrong took an early lead in the first scoring two. But Morrison who rarely misses a shot picked up three in the second to lead 3-2.
He then added one more in the third and fourth to widen his lead 5-2.
In the fifth Armstrong made a take out to count one.
In the 6th it appeared Morrison was insured a win when he added two more to lead 7-3.
But in the 7th Armstrong made the hammer count and scored three with a take out. It was not a 7-6 game.
In the 8th Morrison had a chance to win with the hammer. He needed to hit and stick on Armstrong’s rock in the 8 ft. but instead hit and rolled out leaving Armstrong counting one to tie the game and force an extra end.
In the 9th Morrison had a chance to lie four but was narrow and missed his shot giving Armstrong the 8-7 win and the event title.
In the ‘C’ event It was Claude “Ziggy” Seguin of Rainy River against Paul Fraser of Fort Frances.
Fraser scored two in the first, and one in each of the next two to lead 4-0 after three.
Seguin made it on the score board with singles in the fourth and fifth ends.
Fraser then added two in the sixth to lead 6-2.
Seguin posted another single in the 7th but could not close the gap.
In the end Fraser picked up two more to win 8-3.
